Register through Culpeper County Parks & Recreation starting May 23rd.

KINDERGARTEN READINESS & REVIEW

Join us for fun, games, stories, and learning to help make sure that your child is in fact “ready” to start school. According to a 2022 report to the General Assembly, 42% of Virginia’s kindergarteners were unprepared for school in one or more of the areas of math, literacy, social skills, and self-regulation. This class will address each of these areas and help to fill in any gaps, solidify understanding of important concepts, and extend your child’s learning. You can also enroll your rising 1st grader to help keep them from experiencing summer learning loss, as research shows that children can lose up to 30% of their academic learning progress over summer break. In addition, practice packets/materials will be sent home with students each week.

Meetings will be Tuesdays & Thursdays from June 17th – July 17th from 9-11am at the Culpeper County Fieldhouse. There will be no classes the week of July 4th.  Cost $180

THE LEMONADE WAR BOOK CLUB

In this two week book club, students will read “The Lemonade War,” by Jacqueline Davies and meet three times per week to discuss it. During meeting times, they will participate in activities and games to improve vocabulary and comprehension skills. This experience can also help students to avoid summer learning loss and get them interested in the first book in a great series (hopefully leading to more reading!).

Meetings will be Mondays, Wednesdays, & Fridays from June 16th-27th from 9-11am at the Culpeper County Fieldhouse. Book will be provided. Cost $135

STUDENT CHOICE BOOK CLUB

In this two week book club, students will read a book of their choice and meet three times per week to discuss it. During meeting times, they will participate in activities and games to improve vocabulary and comprehension skills. This experience can also help students to avoid summer learning loss and get them interested in books enjoyed and recommended by their peers.

Meetings will be held Mondays, Wednesdays, & Fridays from July 7th – 18th from 9-11am at the Culpeper County Fieldhouse. Students will need to bring the book of their choice. Cost $120

ABOUT ME

Hello! My name is Jennifer Jenkins, and I have been an educator for 19 years. Teaching is my passion, but working for 11 years in public school, I progressively felt that passion waning more and more with each passing year. I became disheartened and frustrated with overcrowding, poor administration, and lack of consequences for poor behavior, resources, teacher support, and time to give each student what they really needed. I have created an environment where my students enjoy learning, I enjoy teaching, and I have the flexibility to really meet the needs of every student that I serve. I want my students to feel safe, cared for, encouraged, supported, and that their needs are being met. Teaching in this smaller environment, I am able to get to know my students and their families better and meet their needs in a more effective way.

PARENT & STUDENT TESTIMONIALS

"Mrs. Jenkins, I just want to personally say how proud and grateful I am for you. In just weeks I have seen a change in Alaiyah. We used to struggle with the homework and now she does everything so independent. She used to ask us to help her - not anymore. I ask her if she got it, and she says, "Yes, please don't help me. I'm ok!" I have seen growth in her in so many ways! I just want to thank you."

"Mrs. Jenkins was the most inspiring teacher I had in high school. Her passion for teaching made every lesson engaging, and she truly cared about her students' success. She created a supportive environment, always encouraging me to believe in myself. One of my favorite memories with Mrs. Jenkins was attending a gingerbread house workshop with my little brother in December 2024. It was just another example of how she went above and beyond for her students, creating opportunities for learning and fun outside the classroom. Beyond academics, her guidance shaped my confidence and personal growth. I'll always be grateful for her impact, and any student lucky enough to learn from her will leave better for it."

Former Student, Orange County Public Schools
"My son recently completed the 3rd grade with Mrs. Jenkins, and he loved being in her class. I would highly recommend her as an educator, 10 out of 10 times. She is the perfect blend of patience, kindness, and firmness, which creates the ideal environment to keep children learning and engaged in school. When my son struggled with a certain topic during the year, Mrs. Jenkins quickly provided extra support and work until he mastered the topic. She was also readily accessible and highly responsive any time that I reached out to her. She is truly a gem of a teacher!"

Parent, Prince William County Schools
"Our family has had a wonderful experience working with Mrs. Jennifer Jenkins. My son was in 3rd grade during the 23-24 school year. Even with a bit of a challenging case, (as my son has severe food allergies) Mrs. Jenkins handled his needs with utmost care.  We were always promptly contacted and/or informed about any changes to the accommodations. We would highly recommend Mrs. Jenkins to any student/family for her attention to detail and  expertise in her field. Yay! For a great educator, as our children are our future!"

"My son was in Mrs. Jenkins 3rd grade class, and during that time she went above and beyond in helping him and providing additional resources throughout the school year for support. She was always responsive to emails and willing to meet to discuss his growth and areas of improvement when needed. By far one of the best teachers, we have had in a long time."
