Register through Culpeper County Parks & Recreation starting May 23rd.
Join us for fun, games, stories, and learning to help make sure that your child is in fact “ready” to start school. According to a 2022 report to the General Assembly, 42% of Virginia’s kindergarteners were unprepared for school in one or more of the areas of math, literacy, social skills, and self-regulation. This class will address each of these areas and help to fill in any gaps, solidify understanding of important concepts, and extend your child’s learning. You can also enroll your rising 1st grader to help keep them from experiencing summer learning loss, as research shows that children can lose up to 30% of their academic learning progress over summer break. In addition, practice packets/materials will be sent home with students each week.
Meetings will be Tuesdays & Thursdays from June 17th – July 17th from 9-11am at the Culpeper County Fieldhouse. There will be no classes the week of July 4th. Cost $180
In this two week book club, students will read “The Lemonade War,” by Jacqueline Davies and meet three times per week to discuss it. During meeting times, they will participate in activities and games to improve vocabulary and comprehension skills. This experience can also help students to avoid summer learning loss and get them interested in the first book in a great series (hopefully leading to more reading!).
Meetings will be Mondays, Wednesdays, & Fridays from June 16th-27th from 9-11am at the Culpeper County Fieldhouse. Book will be provided. Cost $135

Hello! My name is Jennifer Jenkins, and I have been an educator for 19 years. Teaching is my passion, but working for 11 years in public school, I progressively felt that passion waning more and more with each passing year. I became disheartened and frustrated with overcrowding, poor administration, and lack of consequences for poor behavior, resources, teacher support, and time to give each student what they really needed. I have created an environment where my students enjoy learning, I enjoy teaching, and I have the flexibility to really meet the needs of every student that I serve. I want my students to feel safe, cared for, encouraged, supported, and that their needs are being met. Teaching in this smaller environment, I am able to get to know my students and their families better and meet their needs in a more effective way.
